Full support for translation and localization is only included in the Professional and Server versions of Help & Manual. Although both the Basic and Professional/Server versions support Unicode and can thus produce projects in all supported languages, the Basic version does not include the Project Synchronization Tool and does not support saving in the uncompressed XML format required for translation with tools like SDL Trados or Nero Across. However, you can use the Basic version to edit projects created with the Professional or Server version without restrictions, both compressed HMXZ projects and uncompressed HMXP projects.

The topics in this chapter provide an introduction to Help & Manual's translation and localization features and show you where to find the information you need to use them.
